Android TV is ready for the primetime and Google is calling on developers to enhance the experience by bringing their apps to the Play Store.
If you’ve got a great app or game, Android TV and Google Play can help you bring it to users right in their living rooms. You’ll be able to offer your apps and games in a storefront experience that’s optimized for TV. You can extend your new or existing apps for TV and then publish them using familiar tools and processes in Google Play.
It still remains to be seen how successful or unsuccessful Android TV and the Nexus Player will be but it seems Google is confident in it’s project. Google is doing it the right way by allowing developers to post their apps to the app store because this device would go nowhere without developer support like most other devices. Hopefully the Nexus Player will be a success and Android TV will become a new standard on set-top boxes.
